David Trezeguet has admitted that he has thought about retiring, however, the former France international has his eyes set on the Argentine Primera Division opening tournament, starting in July.
The River Plate striker, 35, has notched up three goals from 16 appearances for his club this season, but has undergone surgery on his left knee recently.
"I thought about retiring", the FIFA World Cup winner with France in 1998, told Fox Sports.
"But my goal is to play again in the next tournament.”
“I was hanging on with this pain for so long that I opted for the operation. There was no complication, and we now expect the recovery will be long.
“Now I want to come back and be 100%."
The third-highest goalscorer for France has a contract with the Argentine side until December 2015.
