Chelsea-bound Hulk says goodbye to Porto

Brazil striker Hulk has issued what appears to be a farewell message to Porto fans – paving the way for a move to Chelsea.

The 25-year-old has been strongly linked with the European champions in a reported £38million deal and has suggested it may be time for him to leave Porto.

Asked what the future held for him, Hulk told Lancenet: “I will always continue to work hard and keep my feet on the ground, regardless of whether I stay at Porto.

“I have won many titles in the past four years at Porto and I think I have a great relationship with everyone.

“If the time has come to move on, I will do so with a good feeling. I have enjoyed a great time here.

“I'm sure they will understand the motives behind my decision if I leave.”

Hulk, who is contracted to Porto until 2016, added: “The club and its fans will forever have a place in my heart. I can only thank them for all the affection they have shown me.”

His agent has claimed the English Premier League is the best place to play and it simply appears Chelsea and Porto have to agree the precise transfer fee, with the blues’ owner Roman Abramovich looking to build on a smart piece of business which saw Eden Hazard sign last week.

Hulk’s agent Theodoro Fonseca told Antena 1:  “Hulk has the desire to play in a better and more competitive league with the thought of making Brazil's squad at World Cup 2014. The Premier League fulfils that requirement.”

Hulk has a buy-out clause of 100 million euros, although it appears Porto will accept a lower offer from Chelsea which will enable them to strengthen in turn.
