Nasri explains celebration

Samir Nasri has said his angry reaction after scoring France's equaliser against England was directed at his critics in the French media.



The midfielder came under fire from L'Equipe for poor performances in Les Bleus' Euro 2012 warm-up games against Iceland, Serbia and Estonia.



But after putting the ball past Manchester City team-mate Joe Hart on Monday, he took the opportunity to have his say - saying "shut up" and directing a 'be quiet' gesture towards the press box.







"I expressed my frustration," Nasri explained to French TV channel TF1.



"I have been shot down in flames while I just tried to respect the coach's orders. It was a reaction that I should not have.



"When your family are reading some articles and you are the target every day, it is exhausting."



Nasri has received the backing of the French Football Federation following the incident.

President Noel Le Graet told radio station RTL: "There was this gesture but it's nothing serious.



"We need to judge him on sporting grounds and he was named man of the match by UEFA.



"He scored a goal and, often, players react after scoring a goal.



"Maybe he had a bad article in his mind. He is a winner."
