Speculation about Luis Suarez opting for an away move has been haunting Liverpool since winter. Now their worries have been doubled as they risk losing their only other striker Andy Carroll.
AC Milan has shown a lot of interest in signing the former Newcastle United player after his impressive form Liverpool near to the end of the season. Andy Carroll continued with his good form England at Euro 2012.
Now the youngster is being targeted by the Italian powerhouse AC Milan. Liverpool has yet to respond to the interest shown by AC Milan. Nonetheless, most analysts reckon this deal could occur, although Liverpool might be reluctant to handover their £35 million forward.
Liverpool broke the English Premier League record for the highest amount paid for an English player by signing in Andy Carroll from Newcastle United on the last day of the winter transfer window.
Andy Carroll’s signing only brought misery to the Merseyside as the striker fell to a long term injury immediately after his signing. Eventually, when Andy Carroll returned to the field his mediocre form forced the manager to bench him.
Over the past season Andy Carroll has slowly increased his form. Losing Any Carroll now would be a great loss to Liverpool.
AC Milan plan to buff up their offense after the departures of Mark van Bommel and Clarence Seedorf. Adding Andy Carroll to the Rossoneri ranks would certainly strengthen AC Milan’s attacking options.
AC Milan has qualified for Champions League and are in contention of winning Serie A next season. AC Milan finished second on the Serie A table last season, which means Andy Carroll will certainly be tempted to play for the Italian outfit.
Pier Silvio Berlusconi recently showed interest in signing Andy Carroll to AC Milan. Pier Silvio Berlusconi, who is the son of AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi, happens to be the President of the holding company that owns AC Milan. Pier Silvio Berlusconi also has the job of identifying transfer targets to AC Milan.
In a recent interview to The Sun, Pier Silvio Berlusconi admitted he would like to bring Andy Carroll to AC Milan in the future.
“This is a new era for Milan. We will continue to get younger while maintaining the culture. Milan still has its superstars,” Pier Silvio Berlusconi said. “As a future target I’d like Andy Carroll.”
“I must admit that, for his body build, and after seeing his header in the Euros, I would like to have Carroll at Milan.”
