Barcelona on alert as target Bale admits he's flattered to be linked with Spanish giants

Gareth Bale has admitted he's flattered by interest from Barcelona amid speculation the European champions are preparing a £34million bid.
Bale, who has become one of Europe's most highly-sought after stars following a number of impressive displays for Tottenham and Wales, has also expressed his frustrations at missing out on Champions League football this term.

Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola is a huge admirer of Bale, and sees the 22-year-old as the solution to his left-back conundrum.
The club's chief scout Albert Valentine travelled to London earlier this month to watch Bale score and star in Tottenham's 3-1 win at Fulham, underlining the Spanish side's interest in him.

'It's always nice being linked with clubs such as Barcelona – it's great to be linked with a team like that,' Bale told the Daily Post.
'I'm enjoying my football at Spurs and I don't really take much notice of what is written about interest from other clubs.'
Spurs failed to qualify for the Champions League after finishing fifth last season - and Bale admits it's frustrating not to be playing in the top tier of European club football.
'It's obviously where I want to be playing,' Bale added. 'I think we've got a great chance of qualifying this season, especially with the manager playing young players in the Europa League and giving us the freshness to play in the Premier League.'
'The main thing is to get back in the Champions League because that's where we want to get back to.'
