Broken toe for Nolan

West Ham captain Kevin Nolan has a broken toe and will be forced to miss several weeks.

Nolan was injured in Monday’s 3-2 defeat to Tottenham and tests have confirmed he sustained a broken toe, which is likely to see him sidelined for several weeks.

The news is a major blow to West Ham as they look to secure their place in the Premier League next season.

The Hammers currently sit 14th on 30 points ahead of the weekend’s match against Stoke, but they have just three wins in all competitions.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s trip to the Britannia Stadium assistant manager Neil McDonald said: “We’ve always looked up the table this season and we’ve always tried to get into the top ten and with a good result on Saturday we can push ourselves a little bit closer to that.

“I think the away form hasn’t been as good as we’d have liked. I think our home form has been really, really good, even though we’ve lost a couple.

“We have to address that, we’ve got to be a little tighter and a bit more physical away from home and make sure we try and keep a clean sheet. And if we can do that, that gives us a good chance to get back to winning ways on our travels.”
