The Dutchman is convinced that Rooney "will come good again" and believes the wantaway striker, who is pining for a move to Chelsea, is a valued asset at Old Trafford.
Manchester United striker Robin van Persie insists everyone at the club wants Wayne Rooney to stay this summer.

The 27-year-old England international was left “angry and confused” at public comments from Moyes that suggested he would be considered as a back-up to Van Persie, and the United boss has since clarified his comments to the striker.

Van Persie believes Rooney "will come good again" and revealed one of his reasons for leaving Arsenal in August 2012 was to play alongside the England international.

"Everyone wants Wayne to stay, and deep down I think he feels the same," Van Persie told The Sun. "One of the reasons I joined Manchester United was to play with Wayne.

"I hope he stays. Not only is he a great goalscorer, he does so much work across the pitch.

"He hates to lose, and that's why you see him one minute pressing for goal, the next minute defending ferociously. He is an asset to any team.

"He will come good again. He is a strong lad."
