Arsenal's Arsene Wenger Should Put His Money Where His Mouth Is With Radamel Falcao

Spanish newspaper Marca is reporting that Radamel Falcao could be back on the transfer market.

While many fans will be extremely skeptical about this report (as Marca does not have the greatest history of reliability), the Spanish newspaper claims that French tax laws could have Falcao's current club, Monaco, pay over $133 million in fines.

 Nevertheless, there will be a list of top clubs in line for the striker's signature, if the report is, in fact, true. Real Madrid, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United (if Wayne Rooney was to be sold) are all looking for a striker and would be logical possible destinations for the 27-year-old front man. 

 Arsenal has been in the market for a high-profile striker all summer, but has missed out on Gonzalo Higuain, Stevan Jovetic, and now, apparently, Luis Suarez. The Gunners made a $62 million bid for Suarez last month, however, the bid was quickly rebuffed by Liverpool.

 Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger spoke earlier today at a press conference about the team's wishes to add players to the squad. The Frenchman said, "I don't disagree that we are a bit light at the moment. There are 18 days to go until the end of the transfer market, and we are of course looking to strengthen our squad."

Falcao

Wenger also added, "It's not a question of spending the money; it's a question of finding the right players. As I told you, you are well-informed; you certainly heard that we are not scared to spend money. But we want the right players."

 Radamel Falcao would be one of the so called "right players." The Colombian international is a goal-scoring machine and is widely regarded as one of the top strikers in the world. However, most Arsenal fans (and fans of other clubs around the world) would be enormously surprised if Wenger submitted a bid for Falcao. 

 Gunners fans have been told repeatedly this summer that the club will spend money, however, onlyYaya Sanogo (on a free transfer) has made a move to the Emirates. Nonetheless, there is still time for Wenger to make moves. 

Falcao joined Monaco just three months ago in a reported $78 million move, and would likely cost a bidding team around the same amount of money. If in fact Wenger is not scared of spending cash on players, it would be wise of him to move quickly for Falcao.
