Ten players who could be on the move when the transfer window opens in January.1. Carlos Tevez
A saga that already seems to have been running for an eternity and could drag on well into 2012, it is difficult to predict where Tevez will be plying his trade at the start of February. Manchester City certainly do not want it to be with them and he appears keen to get as far away from England as possible, but there are still hours of negotiations ahead before anything is resolved. AC Milan had hoped to take him on loan but Roberto Mancini would prefer a permanent deal, and that could leave the door open for another Italian club or big-spending French outfit Paris St Germain.
2. David Beckham
Another player who could be on his way to PSG, Beckham's future is once again the subject of speculation after his contract with Major League soccer side Los Angeles Galaxy came to an end. The former England captain is desperate to represent Team GB at next summer's Olympics and will probably need regular European football to make Stuart Pearce's squad. PSG are interested in pulling off what would be a high-profile coup but no deal has been agreed yet and he is thinking about staying in America, while other clubs could yet enter the chase.
3. Gary Cahill
Bolton probably did not expect to keep Cahill beyond the summer but, surprisingly, none of the Premier League's heavyweights showed enough conviction to prise him away from the Reebok Stadium. Arsenal's bid was laughed off as derisory by Owen Coyle and Tottenham only really tried their luck on deadline day, but there is likely to be even more of a battle for his signature in January. Chelsea are reportedly keen and Coyle has always said he will not stand in the way of Cahill moving to a bigger club, if the price is right for a Bolton side still embroiled in a relegation battle.
4. Jack Rodwell
Everton could face a fight to hold on to England international Rodwell after it was reported earlier this week that a number of clubs were considering a January swoop. Chelsea are thought to be leading the pursuit and have been linked with a £20million bid, even though David Moyes has so far insisted there are no offers on the table. The Toffees boss also maintains there is no pressure to sell the youngster to balance the books, but it could be a long month ahead at Goodison Park.
5. Cheick Tiote
Tiote signed a new six-and-a-half year deal with Newcastle back in February and Alan Pardew has made it clear that he has no intention of letting the midfielder leave next month, but that may not stop other clubs from attempting to sign him. The Ivory Coast international, who will soon be linking up with his country for African Cup of Nations duty, has been a revelation since arriving in the Premier League and has reportedly attracted the attention of several Premier League rivals including Chelsea.
6. Jermain Defoe
A natural goalscorer of undoubted class, Defoe has shown repeatedly that he can perform at Premier League level. Harry Redknapp is an admirer and does not plan to sell in January, with Tottenham looking to sustain a title challenge and few other strikers at his disposal. However, Defoe has admitted he would like to play more regularly ahead of Euro 2012 and a good offer may test Spurs' resolve. The likes of Roman Pavlyuchenko and goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes could also be targeted by other clubs when the transfer window reopens.
7. Didier Drogba
If Defoe is to leave White Hart Lane this winter, could it be to make room for Drogba? Redknapp has admitted he would welcome the Ivorian centre-forward to Tottenham if the opportunity presents itself, and Drogba's future at Chelsea appears uncertain. His current deal expires at the end of the season and, with reports suggesting the Blues do not want to offer him a two-year contract, Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua and Anzhi Makhachkala of Russia are also interested in bringing him in.
8. Bobby Zamora
Speculation has already started to intensify regarding the future of Fulham striker Zamora following a series of reported rows with Martin Jol. The Cottagers manager has always stressed that there is no problem and played down suggestions that Zamora's days at the club could be numbered. However, Zamora is no longer a permanent fixture in the starting XI under Jol as Bryan Ruiz, Andrew Johnson and Moussa Dembele provide fierce competition up front, and a number of other clubs are sure to be monitoring the situation.
9. Nedum Onuoha
It is a sign of Manchester City's strength in depth that Onuoha barely gets a game these days, as he showed during his season-long loan at Sunderland last term that he is a highly effective top-flight performer. City did not allow the right-back to go out on loan in the summer and Mancini is now keen for a permanent deal to be arranged next month. The club will also listen to offers for left-back Wayne Bridge, who has fallen equally far down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium.
10. Kris Boyd
A free agent is always an attractive option and Boyd is currently without a club after terminating his contract with Turkish club Eskisehirspor this week. The striker did not make the impact he had hoped in Eastern Europe after signing a lucrative three-year contract from Middlesbrough over the summer, but he remains the Scottish Premier League's all-time highest goalscorer and will feel he has a point to prove if somebody is prepared to give him the chance.
