Barca, along with Chelsea and Real Madrid, have been linked with the Santos striker throughout the year, and although he only recently agreed a new three-year contract with the South American club, it is thought that that he could still be on the move as soon as next year.
Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has admitted that it is down to coach Guardiola to decide whether Spanish and European champions need to add the 19-year-old to their squad (see below).
But Messi has said he would like to see the teenager join him at Camp Nou, telling reporters: "If Neymar comes to Barcelona, he would be welcome."
Messi came up against Neymar last week in the Club World Cup final, scoring twice as Barca beat Santos 4-0 in Japan.
And the Argentina international added: "Having become world champion with my club makes me very happy. Now, to enjoy the holidays with the family."
