Mario Goetze, Edinson Cavani and Moutinho targets for Chelsea FC - report

Chelsea will reportedly look to launch bids for Mario Goetze as well as Napoli striker Edinson Cavani and Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho.

Reports earlier this month suggested Chelsea were ready to step up their interest in Cavani, who has impressed over the past year or so in Serie A and has also been linked with Manchester United and rivals Man City.

But according to The Times, Chelsea officials believe Napoli could be tempted to part with the Uruguay international for around £34million and are ready to make their move next year.

A bid for Cavani is part of a triple-swoop planned by manager Andre Villas-Boas as he looks to overhaul his squad after sending chief European scout Mick Doherty to watch the forward in action in Italy on several occasions this season.

Until recently, Napoli had been unwilling to sell their prize asset, but it is thought that a deal for Eduardo Vargas from Universidad de Chile - which will take place next year after he snubbed a move to Stamford Bridge - will lead to the club cashing in on the 24-year-old.

And according to Monday's report, bids for Goetze and Moutinho are also in the pipeline.

Moutinho played a crucial role in Villas-Boas' success at Porto and although he has a release clause set at around £35m, it is thought they could offload him for a much lower fee as they look to ease financial troubles.

Earlier this year, Porto reacquired a percentage of the 25-year-old's economic rights following speculation that he was on his way to west London.

Porto spent £3.5m to buy back 22.5 per cent of the midfielder's rights after they had sold 37.5 per cent to an investment fund for around the same amount late last year.

That means the club now own 85 per cent of the midfielder and it is thought that they will sell for around £20m.

Borussia Dortmund playmaker Mario Goetze would likely be the club's most expensive purchase, although Blues owner Roman Abramovich is said to be prepared to back his manager next year.

The introduction of Financial Fair Play is looming, which would likely mean the Russian offloads several big names in order to offset any investment, and could signal moves for Frank Lampard - a target for Real Madrid - and even record signing Fernando Torres.

Goetze has been linked with a number of top clubs from across Europe throughout the year, with Arsenal and Manchester United both keen, along with Barcelona, Real Madrid and several Italian sides.

Dortmund insist their prize asset is not for sale, but the Bundesliga outfit have, however, been working on bringing in a replacement as they are keen on Borussia Moenchengladbach forward Marco Reus, who has recently been linked with Arsenal and Manchester City.
