Arsenal agree terms for Giroud signing

Reports from Sky Sports suggest that Arsenal have agreed a deal to bring Olivier Giroud to the Emirates from Montpellier. Talks of Arsene Wenger signing the French international have been building in recent weeks and it seems they are set to climax today.

The Montpellier owner, Louis Nicollin, earlier in the year slapped a figure closer to £48 million pounds on the player but the Arsenal boss - known for his shrewd transfer policy – is thought to have got his man for around the £12 million mark, after Borussia Monchengladbach failed with a bid of the same price just last week.

Giroud scored 33 goals in 69 league starts for the Ligue 1 side in two years at the club. He made his debut for the French national team in 2011 and has 1 goal in 7 games for his country.

When asked about interest in him, Giroud said: "It's nice that people talk about me but I can't talk about my future right now". The thought being that his big move to Arsenal will be officially announced after the European Championships where Giroud is playing for France.
