Dan Ashworth has confirmed that West Brom are in talks to sign Ben Foster, while they hope to ensure Jonas Olsson stays put.
The Baggies sporting and technical director has been busy trying to get deals tied up while the club were concluding the instalment of Steve Clarke as Roy Hodgson's successor in the Hawthorns managerial hot-seat.
And he revealed that negotiations are underway with Championship side Birmingham to seal a permanent swoop for former England international goalkeeper, Foster, who enjoyed a successful campaign with the club last term.
"We're in talks with Birmingham City about Ben Foster," said Ashworth on the club's website.
"The price has to be right for us - and Blues. I'm hopeful we can find common ground."
Meanwhile Ashworth dismissed reports linking Sweden international defender, Olsson, with a move to West Ham or Tottenham and insisted they are aiming to keep him on board.
He added: "There is no truth in any of the stories about Jonas Olsson.
"We certainly haven't heard anything from anyone. Jonas is still under contract here, he's an important player and an important part of our future."
