Inter To Up Lampard Bid

According to The Sun, Inter will now offer ₤11million for Lampard after having their latest bid of ₤9million rejected last week. The ever-rising sum could easily see the Italians paying double what they initially offered, which was reportedly ₤6.5million. The news follows Inter president Massimo Moratti’s announcement that the club will not relent in their pursuit of the former West Ham player until they land their man, who has been repeatedly singled out as the club’s top target by both Moratti and coach Jose Mourinho. It has also been reported that the England international, who has spent seven years at Stamford Bridge, is set to hand in an official transfer request. Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has already intimated that he would not stop the 30-year-old from leaving, should he wish to do so. However, Lampard could also wait until January before pulling up anchor, as he is in the final year of his contract and would thus be able to sign a pre-contract with the Nerazzurri before joining on a free transfer next summer. But Chelsea would be loath to let one of their star attackers leave for nothing, and as such may well be planning to sell once they extract the highest possible fee from the Scudetto holders.
