Anger at Carlos Tevez's 'RIP Fergie' sign/banner

The Manchester City parade has been struck with controversy and anger over a banner that City player Carlos Tevez.

The sign he held up to thousands of City fans said, “RIP Fergie”, directed towards Manchester United’s Sir Alex Ferguson.

The banner appeared to be made from the shape of a tombstone.

The social networking site Twitter erupted as fans condemned the Argentinian's actions, describing him as a "disgrace to football". It is unclear if Tevez made or brought the sign himself or whether he was given it, but some are saying he did not have it when he boarded the open-top bus.

Some are saying that the meaning behind the sign could be directed towards Ferguson’s famous response to a question in 2009, when asked whether or not United would ever be underdogs against City. To which he replied, “Not in my lifetime”.
