David Luiz ready for final

Chelsea defender David Luiz admits he has only gone up against Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez before 'on Playstation' but is delighted to be fit for Saturday's UEFA Champions League final.

The Brazilian has overcome a hamstring injury to declare himself available for the Allianz Arena decider, handing Chelsea a boost following the suspension of central defenders John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic.

Luiz, jokingly referring to pundit Gary Neville's previous suggestion he plays like a Playstation footballer being controlled by a 10-year-old, admits the only time he has faced Bayern's star striker Gomez in the past is while playing video games.

But the 25-year-old will not let that deter him when he fulfils his boyhood dream of playing in a Champions League final this weekend.

"Yes, I have played against Gomez," said Luiz, "but only on PlayStation!"

He added of the final: "When I was a kid in Brazil it was my dream and now I get my chance to play in the Champions League final. Everyone will stop to watch the game."

The Brazilian is thrilled to have returned to fitness in time for the showpiece encounter.

He said: "I'm very happy - I'm always happy but now more than ever because when I am inside the pitch, that is my place. I don't like it when I'm outside the pitch and just watching the game and I'm sad when I can't go training.

"Since the injury, I had treatment every day - in the morning, in the afternoon and evening.

"I was always hopeful and now I can do all the movements and I am so happy for that."

Luiz knows Bayern will have an advantage playing on home soil but will not let that dampen his enthusiasm.

"It is the best game in the world and played in Munich," he added. "Bayern are at home and that makes it more difficult."
