Conte ban extended worldwide

FIFA has extended Juventus coach Antonio Conte's 10-month suspension for match-fixing violations to include all football worldwide, barring him from working at a UEFA Champions League game against Chelsea next week.



FIFA says Conte's ban "covers all types of matches, including domestic, international, friendly and official fixtures."



Juventus, a two-time European champion, begins the Champions League group stage away to titleholder Chelsea on Thursday (AEST).



Conte has appealed his sanction by the Italian football federation for failing to report match-fixing by an opponent when he coached then-Serie B team Siena in 2010-2011.



Conte then guided unbeaten Juventus to the Serie A title last year in his first season in Turin.



Technical director Massimo Carrera has taken charge this season while Conte and his assistant Angelo Alessio are banished from matches.
