Everton midfielder Darron Gibson has been warned by Giovanni Trapattoni to make up his mind about playing for his country.
The Republic of Ireland play away at Kazakhstan in a World Cup qualifier on Friday night and Gibson had looked set for a starting role until he pulled out.
Gibson is still said to be upset at not getting off the bench at Euro 2012 but he has now been warned by the boss that things will move on without him if he does not commit himself to the cause.
Trapattoni said: “In the past we were frightened about missing players, but now we already have a squad.
“He explained to me that he was disappointed.
“I understood but I said to him this is a time for a new opportunity.”
