Luka Modric has completed his transfer to Real Madrid after signing a five-year contract with the Spanish giants.
It became clear early on Monday morning that an end to one of the most protracted transfer sagas of the summer was drawing to a close when Tottenham and Real Madrid agreed a deal for the Croatian playmaker.
“Luka has been a terrific player for us and, whilst we preferred not to part with him, we are pleased that it is to Real Madrid, a club with which we now look forward to sharing a long and productive partnership,” Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy confirmed.
Modric had earlier flown to Spain to undergo a medical and after passing the tests with flying colours he finally put pen to paper on a five-year deal.
A statement on Real Madrid’s official website read: “The new player of Real Madrid, Luka Modric, has passed the medical which he has undertaken at the Hospital Sanitas La Moraleja, prior to his signing for the club.
“The Croatian has passed the different tests that he has taken without any problems.”
Modric moved to London from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2008 and scored 17 goals in 160 appearances.
