Barcelona do not have a deal in place for Santos' Neymar, says vice-president Jordi Cardoner

It has been reported that the European champions have paid £8 million to secure first refusal on the Brazil international but the club official insists that this is not the case.

There were also suggestions that the player could move to La Liga before the 2014 World Cup.
However, Cardoner insists that no agreement has been reached with Santos, telling RAC 1: "To my knowledge we did not pay €10m to have a preferential option for Neymar."

Cardoner also stated that Barca coach Josep Guardiola will have the final say on whether the highly rated teenager will eventually make the switch to Camp Nou.

"If we’re talking about [Neymar] it is because he is a player considered qualified to be a part of this team, but our technicians will decide," the vice-president added.

The 19-year-old is considered one of the most exciting young prospects in world football and has already been capped 15 times by Brazil. He signed a new five-year contract with Santos earlier this year.
