Real Madrid CF considering bid to sign Didier Drogba on free transfer - report

Real Madrid are reportedly considering launching a bid to sign Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.
Drogba is out of contract at the end of the season and is yet to agree a new deal with the Blues. The 33-year-old has been linked with a number of sides in recent weeks including Tottenham, Galatasaray, Anzhi Makhachkala and former club Marseille.

Reports in Spain earlier this year suggested that Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho was keen on being reunited with the Ivory Coast international, who he worked with while he was in charge at Stamford Bridge.

And according to Spanish publication Sport, the Special One could look to sign Drogba on a free transfer next summer.

Earlier this month, Drogba was offered the chance to move to China following Nicolas Anelka's move to Shanghai Shenhua, and he knows that he could triple his wages by making the move to Asia, pocketing up to £20million in wages.

Chelsea are believed to have offered the forward a one-year extension and talks have been ongoing for some time as he holds out for a two-year deal.

Although it is thought that he would prefer to stay in west London, Drogba is said to be open to a move should his demands not be met, and the chance to play at the highest level in Spain may well appeal.

By running down his contract, the Ivorian would also put himself in a good position to negotiate a bumper pay day for what would likely be his final playing contract.
