Man Utd and Chelsea FC target Wesley Sneijder to be sold next month - report

Inter Milan are reportedly ready to sell Wesley Sneijder next month, putting Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City on alert.

United have been linked with Sneijder throughout 2011, with a £35million move to Old Trafford believed to have broken down last summer as a result of his £200,000-a-week wage demands.

Chelsea and City have also shown interest in the 27-year-old, who according to the Daily Mail will be offloaded in January to raise funds for new signings.

But it is thought the Netherlands international will have to lower his personal demands if a move to the Premier League is to happen.

Inter coach Claudio Ranieri, who is keen to bring in new players during the winter transfer window, last week refused to discuss speculation linking Sneijder with a January move to Manchester United.

Inter are thought to be considering making a bid for Sao Paulo midfielder Lucas as a possible replacement for the Dutchman, but Ranieri told reporters: "I don't want to think of a team without Sneijder because he is the feather in our cap.

"I am used to talking between four walls and if I have something to say about transfers, I say it to [Inter president Massimo] Moratti."

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is yet to replace Paul Scholes, who retired at the end of last season, and the loss of Darren Fletcher and Anderson has led to him being left light on numbers in midfield.

The Scot recently insisted he will only sign a new player in January if one of his long-term targets becomes available, which could have been a hint at a fresh move for Sneijder.

Tottenham playmaker Luka Modric - also a Chelsea target - is on United's radar, but Spurs continue to insist that the Croatia international is not for sale.
