Racist fans scare M’Vila away from Zenit

French international, Yann M'Vila, won’t be joining Russian football champions, Zenit Saint Petersburg, most likely preferring to prolong his career in England.

According to bobsoccer.ru, M'Vila has changed his mind over moving to Zenit after he received threats from some of the club’s radical supporters.

Earlier, the French media reported that the St Petersburg side, had started transfer talks with the 22-year-old’s current club, Rennes.

Now the defensive midfielder, who was in France’s Euro 2012 squad, will choose between two English Premier League outfits – Arsenal and Tottenham.

“There’s no black in the colors of Zenit,” says the notorious motto of the Saint Petersburg clubs ultras.

And it’s backed by the fact that players with African or Latin American roots have never appeared on the team’s lineup.

Dick Advocaat, who was Zenit’s coach in 2006 – 2009, once confessed that the club’s core fans have prevented him from signing players based on their skin color.
