Midfielder tipped to be sold to help pay for Bale storms down tunnel, showers and goes straight to the bus after being subbed.
Number's up? Was Ozil's substitution a bad omen for the German? |
Arsenal target Mesut Ozil moved closer to the Real Madrid exit after a strop on Monday night, writes Darren Lewis in Madrid.
The Germany midfielder is understood to be angry that he has been offered to other clubs as one of several players set to be sold off to pay for Gareth Bale.
Ozil stormed down the tunnel after being substituted with an hour gone in Real's 1-0 win at Granada.
The 24-year-old immediately showered and headed for the team bus.
The Gunners have been desperate for a big-name signing this summer, and the skillful Ozil would go some way to appeasing their frustrated fans.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is also monitoring another frustrated Real star - keeper Iker Casillas.
The Bernabeu legend is seeking assurances about his future after being left on the bench again under new coach Carlo Ancelotti.
The Spain captain and club icon Casillas fell out with Jose Mourinho last season and found himself dropped.
Now, Ancelotti has also preferred Diego Lopez to the club captain for the first two La Liga games of the season.
The 32-year-old Casillas, the most capped player in Spanish history, is concerned about his place in the national squad for next year’s World Cup.
However, Ancelotti said he picked Lopez purely on form.
“He played the first game and the second,” said the former Chelsea boss. “He’s playing well, that’s all there is to it.”
Arsenal have also enquired about Newcastle keeper Tim Krul, as they seek competition for Wojciech Szczesny.
