Real Madrid CF in crisis following Sergio Ramos-Jose Mourinho bust-up - report

Jose Mourinho reportedly faces problems behind the scenes at Real Madrid following reports of bust-ups with several key players at the Bernabeu.

According to Marca, Mourinho has fallen out with defender Sergio Ramos, criticising his vice-captain following last Wednesday's Copa del Rey defeat to rivals Barcelona.

Mourinho allegedly said to Ramos during Friday's training session: "You [guys] killed me [with your quotes to journalists] in the mixed zone."

Ramos is said to have replied: "No, boss, you only read what was published in the press, not everything we said."

According to the report in the Spanish publication, Mourinho then hit out at the supposed Spanish clique at the club, responding by saying: "Of course, as you Spanish are world champions, your friends in the press protect you... like the goalkeeper."

That is said to have brought Iker Casillas into the heated exchange, as he said to the Special One: "Boss, here we say things to our faces."

Mourinho then returned to Ramos and asked: 'Where were you for the first goal, Sergio?"

Ramos responded by saying: "Marking Gerard Pique," to which Mourinho replied: "Well, you should have been marking [Carlos] Puyol."

Puyol scored Barca's first goal as Pep Guardiola's side came from behind to win their quarter-final first leg 2-1.

Ramos then claimed he and his team-mate had switched marking duties prior to the set piece.

"He [Puyol] and Pique were drawing the defenders and we decided to change the marking [responsibilities]."

To that, Mourinho is said to have said: "What's this then. Now you're trying your hand as coach are you?"

Ramos hit back by saying: "No, but depending on the match situation, sometimes it's necessary to change the marking.

"And as you have never been a [professional] player, you wouldn’t know that this is sometimes necessary."

Mourinho was jeered by some Real Madrid fans during Sunday's 4-1 win over Athletic Bilbao as a result of last week's defeat, although the former Chelsea and Inter coach insisted he had "no problem" with the criticism from fans (see below).

However, the report coming out of Spain comes just days after former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon claimed that Kaka and other players are unhappy at the club under Mourinho.

Calderon, who was in charge at the Bernabeu from 2006-2009, told Ona FM last week that several Spanish players are unhappy with the manager and that Brazilian playmaker Kaka has not spoken with him boss for four months.

He had claimed: "The players are no longer happy. He [Mourinho] hasn't spoken to Kaka once in the last four months.

"The Spanish players are unhappy with their situation because of the privileges Mourinho gives to the Portuguese players.

"And then there's the situation of [Nuri] Sahin. The reason he doesn't play is because Mourinho doesn't like him."
