Danny Welbeck, who is believed to be a transfer target for Real Madrid, will reportedly sign a new five-year deal with Manchester United next month.
The 21-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Sunderland, has been in superb form so far this season and his goals for the reigning Premier League champions have seen him jump above Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen in the pecking order at Old Trafford.
Towards the end of last year it was reported that Welbeck, who scored the winner in Sunday's 2-1 win at Arsenal, was to be rewarded with a new five-year deal.
But last week it emerged that talks over a new deal had broken down over Welbeck's wage demands, which led to reports at the weekend suggesting Real Madrid were preparing to launch a bid for the forward at the end of the season.
But according to The Sun, United are set to agree a five-year, £42,000-a-week deal with the player.
The England international, who currently earns around £15,000-a-week, was originally thought to be wanting as much as £60,000 a week to commit his long-term future to the club.
