Petr Cech is out of Chelsea’s Barclays Premier League clash with Liverpool as Roberto Di Matteo clings on to the dream of finishing fourth.
Cech, who was outstanding in Saturday’s FA Cup final triumph at Wembley over Kenny Dalglish’s side, has been rested by Chelsea’s interim manager.
Instead Hilario, whose last appearance for Chelsea was in the 3-1 win over Norwich back in August, is expected to deputise.
Rookie reserve keeper Ross Turnbull has also been told he is travelling up by chartered jet to Merseyside this morning, but is likely to be on the substitute’s bench.
Although Di Matteo is resting his first choice keeper, he is still convinced Chelsea can overhaul Newcastle, Tottenham and even Arsenal in the chase for a Champions League position.
Di Matteo gave his squad some time off after Saturday’s momentous victory and they did not return to training until yesterday afternoon.
Chelsea are five points behind Harry Redknapp’s team in fourth, but will narrow the gap ahead of the last round of fixtures in the Premier League with a win at Anfield.
Go fouth: Chelsea's John Terry, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole will all feature at Anfield
Although Di Matteo is making further changes from Saturday’s victorious team, he has picked a strong squad for their second clash with Liverpool in four days.
Didier Drogba, who scored Chelsea’s second at Wembley on Saturday, travels with other senior players such as skipper John Terry, midfielder Frank Lampard and left-back Ashley Cole.
Fernando Torres returns to Anfield for the first time since his £50m move to Chlsea last January and is expected to start up front.
Romelu Lukaku, who has made just 10 appearances in a frustrating first season for Chelsea, has been added to the squad.
Ryan Bertrand, who impressed at left-back recently when he deputised for Cole, is in the travelling party with Sam Hutchinson.
Daniel Sturridge, who was on the bench for Chelsea’s fourth FA Cup win in six years, is expected to start up front with Torres.
