Chelsea have taken a step closer to moving away from Stamford Bridge by bidding for a 39-acre London site in Battersea.
A statement on the club's website said the plan was to "provide a unique architectural backdrop to a world-class stadium with a capacity of 60,000 seats".
It added: "Battersea Power Station is one of London's most famous buildings and has the potential to become one of the most iconic football stadiums in the world.
"Our joint bid was submitted in accordance with the sales process established by the joint administrators for the site. The process could run for a number of months.
"We are not the only interested parties. There is no certainty we will be successful."
Chelsea cannot move from Stamford Bridge unless they can convince fan-led group Chelsea Pitch Owners (CPO), who own the land, to sell the freehold back to the club.
In March the club insisted that expanding the current arena was unviable and building a new arena on the site posed a number of planning problems.
