Del Bosque sees Torres as key

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque believes it is a good thing for the defending champions that Fernando Torres has rediscovered some form ahead of Euro 2012.

Torres become his country's fourth highest goalscorer of all-time when he found the target against South Korea in Switzerland on Wednesday night to set up a 4-1 friendly win for the world champions.

The Chelsea striker made his first start for the Spaniards since August last year, and it was one of his trademark runs that set up his opener on 11 minutes after he headed Benat Etxebarria's cross into the top corner.

Torres was particularly pleased to make a goalscoring return, as was Del Bosque, with the 28-year-old expected to lead La Roja's title defence in Poland and Ukraine in the absence of injured David Villa.

"He is one of those players that offers speed, movement and combination play with his team-mates,'' Del Bosque said.

"He seemed delighted with the goal and this is good for everyone.''

Xabi Alonso, Santi Cazorla and Alvaro Negredo were also on target for Spain in midweek, with Kim Do-Heon bagging the Korean's solitary goal.

Del Bosque's team complete their preparations for the Euros on Sunday when they host China in Seville, and the 61-year-old tactician admits the spirit in his squad couldn't be better heading into the tournament.

"We leave happy because we have had a few fantastic days' training, no injuries, we've played two games and there has been a magnificent relationship among the group," he added on the Spanish football federation's website.

Spain open their European Championship campaign against Italy on June 10 before facing the Republic of Ireland and Croatia in Group C.
