Tevez confirms exit talk

Ahead of returning to Manchester City, Carlos Tevez has confirmed the transfer circus which surrounded his career in January.

The striker was a target of AC Milan, Inter Milan and Paris Saint Germain in the winter window and has in the past also been linked with former club Corinthians.

Tevez has suffered a much-publicised fall-out with City since refusing to warm-up in September's UEFA Champions League defeat at Bayern Munich.

The former City captain has been on unauthorized leave in his native Argentina in recent months and on Monday accused manager Roberto Mancini of treating him like a dog.

And despite expectedly travelling back to Manchester on Tuesday, Tevez has admitted he came close to securing his wish of leaving the Premier League leaders.

The 28-year-old, who is under contract with City until the summer of 2014, told media at Buenos Aires airport: "All the rumours about transfers are true, but they were not achieved and I belong to City.

"So I have to go back there."

There is a huge rift to heal between Tevez and Mancini, although the City boss has in recent weeks seemed more open to welcoming back the forward to help in the title race.

"I've got two-and-a-half-years to accomplish yet and then I'll get more chances," said Tevez.

"Now I will face the challenge and for me that is to come back to training and also to see all of my colleagues."

Asked how he thinks fans will welcome him, he said: "We will see."
