Wesley Sneijder hints at Man Utd move as Inter speculation continues

Wesley Sneijder has - not for the first time - put Manchester United and rivals Man City on alert by hinting that he could quit Inter Milan this summer.

United have been linked with the 27-year-old throughout the past twelve months and a £35million move to Old Trafford is thought to have been close to last summer.

Talk of a January move had continued in recent weeks until Sneijder stated last month that he would not leave the San Siro in the middle of the season.

But after Inter coach Claudio Ranieri implied that he was unsure how to fit Sneijder into his team at the end of last month, the Dutchman has hinted that he could be ready to change clubs for the start of next season.

And the Netherlands international - who on more than one occasion has given interviews in which he is less than clear about whether or not he wants to move to the Premier League - looks set to ensure his future is a topic of speculation for months to come.

Speaking to Nos, he said: "I always watch what can happen. I don't ever close any possibilities.

"I'm fine here at Inter. But I don't know where I'll play next season. If last Tuesday (January's transfer deadline day) some club had submitted an offer, maybe I could have gone.

"But the truth is that I'm happy at Inter."

However when asked about a move to Old Trafford, the former Real Madrid midfielder added: "Who would not want to play in a club like that?

"But there has never been real contact."

Reports in England and Italy last summer had claimed officials from Inter and United had held talks.
